SHACK 2009 PERCEIVED LOSS

Funeral One's Blog

The perceived loss of identity is anathema too many, however on close inspection and in depth consideration one may see that identity of oneself is not as watertight as one may have thought.

Looking at the building blocks of this self it may appear somewhat shaky a sort of a phantom or shadow ahead of oneself because as many times said in SHACK's galore it is a matter of conditioning from birth and being taught an identity by birth right, culture and custom.

When finding that identity is swappable then the shadow of the false identity is behind one.

One then becomes so attached to the images and programmes of the 'false' identity, I use false because one has been taught to be who one is and not always a free choice, the babe to the adult a straight track and very little deviance.

This then becomes a 'norm' a moral code, a religious outlook, a believer in the politic and cultural mode of conduct and breaking this code can produce a feeling of guilt. GUILT then becomes the bastion and champion of keeping the programme of inculcations and brain washing together and a replay of the events to impact and push this down into the subconscious as an auto play that triggers that then seem to spontaneously react to similar events. Guilt becomes a protective mechanism not only for the individual but the collective.

Then arrives an insidious surreptitious set of conditions; slowly or violently over one's formative years certain words and pronunciations, emphasis and facial and body language, stances and tones of voice and hand gestures relate to feelings and these feelings whether comfortable loving or threatening form what is experienced as emotions. Most folk love or choose to have warm loving feelings that produce security, belonging and approval. To have these removed in one's life usually produces loss, vulnerability, demise and so FEAR is born as another protection from loss.

Over the years then these emotions are gathered , harvested and formed into a library of emotions with a colourful set of graphics which are then bound into an entity titled ego, this is a citadel with its own politic, culture and demeanour to most this is a slight variance from one's upbringing so in a way an emotional and behavioural clone with slight variances so as to make one seem individual and original.

Then there maybe those who have seen through this 'cloning' carbon copy and then may go wild and unruly and become rebellious, then those who may fight the restriction and boredom and become pioneers of some new sect and those who become so narcistic that they long for eugenics and those that have been traumatised and become revengeful and maybe terrorists and many other combinations and configurations.

However if one can survive the fear of loss which is inevitable in many ways, old age, health issues and the impermanence of everything in form of an atomic structure of so called tangible, palpable tactile, yay even that of stars and planets let alone the frail human body and contemplate, ruminate, explore this perceived loss one may find that to dive and embrace this 'void of identity'  then may find to their surprise a space, an experience of calm, light, freedom and spaciousness to BE in fact one has found ONE-SELF.

This is why in meditation one should just sit and not have a goal in mind or plead for something, this is because one is then drawing on the 'desires' from the conditioned brain washed mind and seeking a 'known' identity. Let the empty mind do its thing and the results come either spontaneously (not to be confused with impulse) or just remain empty without wilful intention, awareness without bias, attention without intention.(SHACK)
